TRAUMA INFORMED BODY THERAPY (TIK)

60 minutes  // 550,-

(student sessions)

It all begins with and from our hearts.

Throughout life and through our lived experiences, the body is shaped — both positively and negatively. The body always wants what is best for us and has remarkable protective strategies to take care of us. The earlier these strategies arise, and the more they have impacted us, the more they might dominate us as adults. They do not only impact our nervous system but are embedded in the way the body has formed itself in its meeting with the world.

If, as children, our emotional and physical need were not met, or we encountered different forms of trauma, we may become more vulnerable when facing challenges later in life. Our nervous system may become too easily triggered, making it difficult to connect with our body and therefore to feel our own boundaries, our ability to stay present and to enjoy life. If we do not feel safe, we cannot find true rest, regulate our nervous system or fully heal.

The fundamental intention of a TIK session is to consistently attend to and respect your body and its history, while simultaneously regulating my own nervous system, so that together we may gradually build more capacity and trust from within. No two sessions will be the same, as we respectfully and with patience explore safety and bodily consent, through physical touch and presence.

When we do feel safe, the body has an exceptional ability to repair itself. Deep tissues are able to release tension, the nervous system can begin to regulate itself and metabolic balances can be restored. As the TIK session is deeply relational and ressorcefull, the mind is offered new experiences and the possibility of forming new relational patterns arises. We can begin to perceive fewer threats around us and learn to deeply trust life.

It is my highest calling to support you on your journey toward a safer body and a nervous system that can be affected by life, while remaining mostly calmly regulated — through the contact of my hands, my attuned guidance, and our shared resources.

The TIK approach is rooted in manual body therapy, biodynamic craniosacral therapy, and fascial unwinding, and is informed by an understanding of the autonomic nervous system through Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal Theory, as well as the body’s formative patterns described within formative psychology.

I recommend that you wear comfortable and soft clothing during the session, which often begins with a conversation, followed by the body therapy.
